12 TO 21
A coming-of-age feature film that follows a boy from a small Southern town as he ages from adolescence to adulthood and discovers love, sex, friendship and art against the backdrop of the turbulent 1980s and the early years of the AIDS epidemic. Written and directed by Tim Kirkman.
Currently in development, the short film: “1980: Age 12”
Twelve-year-old Matthew Redding watches the world more closely than it watches him — a male swimmer's stunning physique, the curly dark hairs on his best friend Peter's ankles, the way his father holds his mother when they dance. Men move through the world with an ease he can't yet imagine for himself. Then there’s Scott, who has cast Matthew in the title role of the community theater production of “Oliver!,” who kneels, eye level, and says make them cry — and in whose presence Matthew feels, for the first time, entirely seen.
